Gerard Hordyk (Hordijk) 1899-1958. Dutch painter and muralist, educated as an building engineer in the city of Delft and as painter at the Academie in The Hague. Lived and worked in Paris where he was a neighbor and close friend of Piet Mondrian. During the second World War he lived with many other artists in New York, after her returned to Amsterdam. The painting above This is reminiscent of some of Picasso paintings by whom Hordijk was influenced as many others. In 2017 Hordijk received a major retrospective exhibition at museum Flehite in Amersfoort, The Netherlands.
