Dr Helen Lieros is one of Zimbabwe’s finest painters and is amongst its most enthusiastic and prolific art teachers. Dr Lieros was born in Gweru in 1940 and she studied art at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. Unlike many local artists, her two dimensional works are monumental and have an appeal in European, African and American museums. She has won several awards and her works have graced the Commonwealth Overseas league in 1982, the Havana Biennale in 1986 and the International All Africa Expose in Dakar and many more prestigious events and places.
