Joseph (Joe) Raphael (1869-1950) American artist. Educated in San Francisco and in Paris at the cole National Supérieur des Beaux Arts. He became friends with the Singer family, who gave their name to the present Singer Museum in Laren The Netherlands. He settled down in Laren The Netherlands married a Dutch wife and moved to Ukkel Belgium. There he painted his impressionistic landscapes and his family. Joseph Raphael was Jewish and therefor he moved before the Second World War started back to San Francisco.
