Remko Watjer (1911-1989) Dutch artist, studied in Groningen, his teacher was the famous Jan Altink. Watjer was known for his avant-garde use of bright colours. He lived in South Africa and Paris where he studied at the Academy of André LHote. Later in his career his manner of painting changed from figurative into abstraction.
